Welcome to the latest edition of the Sisvel Insights weekly round-up, aggregating news stories, analyses and data points affecting the SEP world that have caught our eye over the past seven days

Indian telecom companies have set themselves a target of holding 10% of global 6G SEPs and of making one-sixth of all contributions to global standards in the technology within the next three years, according to reports coming out of the country over the weekend. This may be one to file under “easier said than done”, but if it does happen it will no doubt give India – which has emerged as a significant SEP/FRAND jurisdiction over recent times – an even more important role in global strategies.

Elsewhere, news emerged that Huawei has launched further Wi-Fi 6 patent infringement action in Europe, this time against Netgear; while a Xiaomi recommended opinion piece took an in-depth look at the recent letter sent by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation to Avanci urging it to conduct a self-screening and compliance rectification of monopoly risk. There was news, too, of a Japanese government plan to create national strategy to leverage standards to create new market opportunities for the country’s businesses.

Please note that inclusion of a piece in the list below does not signify agreement with what is stated in the linked article, just that we believe it is of interest and worth pointing out.
