Wi-Fi / W-LAN
Family specification for Wireless Local Area Network
Sisvel 802.11 Wi-Fi / W-LAN Joint Licensing Programme
The 2007 version of the 802.11 Standard merged eight amendments to the legacy 802.11-1997 (802.11a, b, d, e, g, h, i, j) with the base standard. Upon approval on March 8, 2007, it was renamed to the then-current base standard IEEE 802.11-2007.
The IEEE 802.11n 2009 amendment to the 2007 version of the standard added multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and several other enhancements, and was formally adopted as IEEE Std. 802.11n-2009. More recently, the IEEE has further enhanced WLAN throughput in the 802.11ac, a 2013 amendment to the then-current base standard IEEE 802.11-2012, which in turn was published to merge ten amendments (802.11k, r, y, n, w, p, z, v, u, s) with the 2007 base standard.
